Why have Radha Krishna on Hindu Wedding Cards?

Posted: July 2011

A hindu wedding is one that is known to be a very symbolic and colourful affair. The wedding ceremony itself takes place round a fire and on a stage called a Mandap. During the wedding ceremony the hindu priest guides the bride and groom through various stages of the ceremony in sanskrit, performing certain rituals which are seen to be representative of the life after marriage. Having Radha Krishna on Hindu Wedding Cards of the bride and groom would add to the colourful and symbolic nature of the hindu wedding.

Although it is not essential to have the image of Radha Krishna on their wedding cards, the bride and groom may see it as a symbol to denote their life ahead to be of the very same loving and caring nature that Radha and Krishna had for each other. The image would signify a beautiful relationship between the bride and the groom and something the invited guests would be delighted to witness on the day.

Krishna as most know it is the avatar of Lord Vishnu that came to earth to save mankind from the evil doers. When he was young he fell in love with Radha and up until this day the two names Radha Krishna are taken together.

Krishna is known to be playing the flute whenever Radha is around and it is this that enchants her. Thus whenever an image of Radha Krishna is used on Hindu Wedding Cards it always has Krishna playing the flute. Krishna also has a peacock feather on his head and Radha is draped in a beautiful saree with lovely jewellery entangled round her neck, hands and feet.

The image can either be placed on the card itself in its full colourful effect or it can be kept subtle and be placed on the inserts either as a background or on one of the top corners. It creates a lovely effect and depicts the colourful nature of the hindu wedding ceremony.

Most important of all though is the denotation of the future life of the married couple that it exhibits – a life of love and care for both the bride and groom towards each other.

We here at Occasion4U understand the hindu wedding ceremony with its flare of colours and symbolic rituals. As they say knowing who to talk to makes a difference, we can confidently say that we are experts in our field and are the right people to come to for advice on your wedding cards.
